Spyfall Rules
Spyfall | 3-8 players | ~10 min
Overview
Spyfall is a social deduction game where only one player doesn't know the secret. Civilians must sniff out the Spy without revealing the location; the Spy must blend in and figure out where everyone else is.
Setup
- 3-8 players; a voice call or live chat is recommended for discussion.
- Each round randomly picks one category and one location.
- The selected Spy receives a "Spy" card instead of the location.
On your turn
- Card reveal phase: Each player privately checks their card — make sure no one else sees it.
- Discussion: Players take turns asking and answering questions. Too specific and you tip off the Spy; too vague and you look like the Spy.
- Vote: When the host opens voting, everyone points to a single player.
- Spy's reveal: At any time during voting the Spy may name a location from the category list to end the game immediately.
Winning condition
- Spy guesses location: If the Spy names the correct location, the Spy wins.
- Spy is identified: If a majority correctly votes for the Spy, the civilians win.
- Otherwise (wrong vote, tie, no majority): The Spy wins.
Tips
- Too specific gives the Spy a free clue; too abstract makes you look like the Spy.
- As the Spy, listen carefully to others' answers and ride the flow of the conversation.
- Frequent tie votes favor the Spy — coordinate to lock onto a single suspect.
