Werewords Rules

Overview

The Mayor knows a secret word and the Villagers try to guess it through yes/no questions. Hidden among the Villagers are Werewolves who already know the word and try to steer the village wrong — a game of bluff on both sides.

Roles

  • 🎩 Mayor: Knows the secret word and answers every question.
  • 🐺 Werewolf: Knows the word but pretends to be a villager and tries to keep the village from guessing. Werewolves know each other.
  • 🧑‍🌾 Villager: Does not know the word. Asks yes/no questions to deduce it.

Turn Flow

  1. Role reveal: Each player checks their role. The Mayor and Werewolves see the word.
  2. Discussion: The Mayor presses Start Discussion to open chat. Villagers ask yes/no questions, the Mayor answers.
  3. Resolution: If someone has guessed the word, the Mayor declares Word Guessed. Otherwise the Mayor declares Time Up.
  4. Accusation vote:
    • Word guessed → the Werewolves vote on who the Mayor is.
    • Time up → the village (plus the Mayor) votes on a Werewolf.

Winning condition

  • If the word was guessed: the Werewolves win by correctly identifying the Mayor; otherwise the village wins.
  • If time ran out: the village wins by correctly identifying a Werewolf; otherwise the Werewolves win.
Tip: Werewolves throw in slightly misleading questions to lower the Mayor's accuracy. As Mayor, stay neutral — don't sound too friendly or too cold to any one player.
