Perudo Rules

Perudo | 2-6 players | ~20 min

Overview

Everyone rolls their dice secretly, then players take turns bidding on how many dice of a given face exist across all cups. The tension comes from deciding when to call someone's bluff.

Setup

  • Give each player 5 dice and a cup.
  • All players simultaneously roll their dice under their cup and peek at only their own results.
  • Determine the starting player.

On your turn

  1. Bid: Declare "at least X dice showing face Y" across all players' dice. Must be higher than the previous bid (same face more count, or higher face same/more count).
  2. 1s (Pacos/Stars) are wild: count as any face when tallying. Switching to 1s requires ⌈previous count/2⌉+1 ones minimum. Switching from 1s to another face requires 2×(current 1s bid)+1 minimum.
  3. Challenge (Dudo): If you think the bid is too high, challenge. Reveal all dice and count. Actual count >= bid → challenger loses 1 die. Actual count < bid → bidder loses 1 die.
  4. Players with 0 dice are eliminated. Survivors re-roll at the start of the next round.
  5. The last player with dice wins.

Scoring

This game is decided by survival, not points.

  • Losing a challenge costs you 1 die.
  • Reaching 0 dice means elimination.
  • Rounds continue until only one player remains.

The last player with dice remaining wins.

Tips

  • Your own dice give you private information — use it to gauge how plausible any bid is.
  • 1s (wilds) are powerful but also a signal. Opponents may challenge bids heavy on 1s.
  • With fewer players late game, bluffs become riskier since there are fewer total dice.
