Parade Rules

Parade | 2-6 players | ~20 min

Overview

It looks like you're collecting cards, but really you want to avoid collecting. Slip a card onto the parade so that as little as possible falls back to you.

Setup

  • Shuffle the 66 cards (6 colors × 0-10).
  • Deal 5 cards to each player.
  • Lay 6 cards face up in a row to form the parade.
  • The remaining cards form the draw deck.

On your turn

  1. Step 1. Pick a card from your hand and place it at the end of the parade.
  2. Step 2. If your card has value V, the last V+1 cards (including your own) are safe.
  3. Step 3. Among the remaining cards, take any with (a) the same color as yours or (b) value ≤ V to your own pile.
  4. Step 4. Sort your pile by color so others can see your counts.
  5. Step 5. Draw one card from the deck to refill your hand.

End game & wrap-up

  • Trigger A. A player has cards of all 6 colors in their pile (the triggering turn finishes normally).
  • Trigger B. The draw deck is empty.
  • Final round. After the trigger, every player takes one more turn — but no one draws anymore.
  • Wrap-up. Once everyone has 4 cards in hand, each player picks 2 to add to their pile and discards the other 2.

Scoring

  • For each color, whoever owns the most cards of that color counts each as 1 point.
  • Other players count the face value of each card of that color.
  • 2-player variant: must own at least 2 more than your opponent to claim majority. Otherwise both score face value.
  • Ties: every tied owner uses the 1-point-each rule for that color.
  • Sum across all colors. Lowest score wins.
  • If tied, the player with fewer total collected cards wins.

Tips

  • High-value cards have wider safe zones, but if collected they hurt by face value.
  • Feeding a color to whoever already has the most often pins that color to the 1-point rule.
  • Look at what's near the front of the parade — simulate which cards would fall before you commit.
