Love Letter Rules

Love Letter is a compact deduction and bluffing game where you only ever hold one card. Each turn you draw one and play one, scheming to win the princess's favor.

• 1 Guard x5 — name another player and guess their card; if correct, they are out.
• 2 Priest x2 — secretly look at another player's hand.
• 3 Baron x2 — compare hands with another player; the lower hand is eliminated.
• 4 Handmaid x2 — you are immune to effects until your next turn.
• 5 Prince x2 — choose any player who must discard their hand and draw a new card.
• 6 King x1 — trade hands with another player.
• 7 Countess x1 — must be discarded if you also hold the 5 or the 6.
• 8 Princess x1 — if you discard her for any reason, you are immediately eliminated.

1. Shuffle the deck, set one card aside face down, then deal one card to each player.
2. On your turn draw one more card, then play one of the two and resolve its effect.
3. Eliminated players take no further part until the round ends.
4. The round ends as soon as the deck is empty or only one player remains.

• The last player remaining wins the round.
• If multiple players survive, the highest card in hand wins.
• If still tied, the highest sum of cards discarded that round wins.

The token target depends on the player count (2 players: 7, 3 players: 5, 4 players: 4). The first player to reach this target wins the game.
