King of Tokyo Rules
King of Tokyo | 2-6 players | ~30 min
Overview
Each player is a giant monster smashing through Tokyo. Roll six dice to score points or attack rivals. The first monster to reach 20 VP — or the last monster standing — wins.
Dice Faces
- 1, 2, 3: Three of a kind scores VP equal to that number. Each extra die of the same value adds +1 VP.
- ♥ Heart: Heal 1 HP (up to 10). You cannot heal while in Tokyo.
- ⚡ Energy: Gain 1 energy cube.
- 👊 Attack: If you are in Tokyo, deal damage to every monster outside Tokyo. If you are outside, deal damage to the monster currently in Tokyo. Damage equals the number of attack dice rolled.
Tokyo
- If Tokyo is empty and you rolled at least one attack, you must enter Tokyo and gain +1 VP.
- Gain +2 VP at the start of your turn if you are in Tokyo.
- You cannot heal while in Tokyo, and every outside attack hits only you.
- When attacked, immediately choose to stay (take damage and remain) or yield (the attacker takes Tokyo).
Turn Flow
- Roll: Roll the six dice up to three times per turn. Tap any die to lock it between rolls.
- Resolve: After your final roll, press Resolve to apply every effect at once (VP, healing, energy, damage).
- Enter / yield Tokyo: Move into Tokyo automatically when required, or let the current occupant decide whether to yield.
- Play passes to the next monster.
Winning condition
The first player to achieve either of the following wins the game.
- Reach 20 VP
- Be the last monster standing (every other monster at 0 HP)
Tip: Tokyo scores fast but draws every attack. When things look bad, don't hesitate — yield the city.
