Coloretto Rules
Coloretto | 3-5 players | ~20 min
Overview
A push-your-luck card game about knowing when to grab a row. Three colors score for you; anything beyond three counts against you — so timing is everything.
Setup
- Shuffle 63 color cards (7 colors x 9 each), 6 +2-point cards, and 3 wild cards into a single face-down draw pile.
- Set up one empty row per player (3 rows for 3 players, 4 for 4, 5 for 5).
- Place the draw pile in the center of the table.
On your turn
- Draw: Flip the top card of the deck and place it face-up on any row that has fewer than 3 cards.
- Take a row: Take all cards in any row that has at least 1 card, add them to your collection, and skip the rest of this round.
- When every player has taken a row, the round ends and all rows are cleared for a new round.
- The game ends immediately when the draw pile is exhausted (finish the current round).
Scoring
After the game ends, each player scores:
- Your top 3 most-numerous colors score positive points using the triangular table:
1=1, 2=3, 3=6, 4=10, 5=15, 6=21, 7=28, 8+=36. - Every additional color beyond your top 3 scores negative points using the same table.
- +2 cards: each adds +2 to your total.
- Wild cards: assign to any color to maximize your score.
The player with the highest total score wins.
Tips
- If a row contains a color you don't want, you can keep drawing onto it to make it tempting enough for someone else to take.
- Picking up a 4th color means it scores negative — think carefully before diversifying.
- Wild cards are most valuable when assigned to a color you already have many of, pushing you up the triangular table.
